saturday sounds...So long to Hal
Hats off to you if you're either old enough or engaged enough to know who Hal David is. Half of the songwriting duo of Bacharach and David (who dominated the more adult end of popular music in the 60's), David passed away last weekend at the age of 91.
If you're like us, it was Burt Bacharach's melodies that first hooked you, but inevitably after a few listens there was a subtle awakening to the humour and irony of the words being sung, and you would smile to yourself. That was Hal David tickling your intellect.
