Per our earlier post, when on Vieques our local (& the island's only!) supermarket is Superdescuento Morales. Morales has only seven aisles plus a cold room, and it looks pretty dingy by the standards we're used to back home, but in its small spaces are crammed everything a little island needs for its day to day sustenance. Following up on our comments about the joy of foraging, we offer you a tour, aisle by aisle, of some of the offerings & amusing juxtapositions that have caught our eye in this odd little microcosm of commerce.Today, we present Aisle 1.
Aisle 1 is the one we visit the least. It offers up everything one is supposed to avoid: candies & sweets, fatty snacks, jug wine, and miles of Wonder Bread & Twinkies. (Fortunately,) it is also one of the shortest aisles in the store!
Stick with us, we promise it gets waaay more interesting tomorrow as we move into Aisle 2......
